This site is only as good as the parents in it
Everything here was written by someone who did the thing first. If you have taught a subject you were frightened of, started a group from nothing, navigated a law nobody explains, or simply survived a year you nearly did not — that is the material. We would like it.
Write a guide or a parent story
The pieces people share most are the specific ones — the year you taught reading to a child who could not, the co-op you started with two families, the month you nearly quit. We pay for commissioned guides and credit every contributor with a full byline and a link.
Pitch an idea →Moderate a regional space
Every region in the forum needs a parent who lives there — someone who knows the local law, the good co-ops and the exam centres that take private candidates. It is a couple of hours a month and it is the most useful volunteering on the site.
Volunteer to moderate →Correct something
Laws change, curricula go out of print, links rot. If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us — in the forum or by email. Every correction is credited on the page, and we would rather be corrected than confident.
Post a correction →Review a curriculum you actually used
Our reviews are written by parents who taught the thing for at least a term, and we take no payment from publishers. If you have used something for a year and have opinions — especially critical ones — we want them.
Submit a review →Show us your real day
Not the photogenic one. The actual timetable, the actual kitchen table, the thing you gave up on in October. Our most-read pieces are the honest ones, and they come from readers.
Share your day →Tell us what to build
Two of the four tools on this site started as a reply to the Sunday email. If there is a calculator, a checklist or a lookup you keep wishing existed, describe it and we will probably build it.

What we publish, and what we don’t
- 1
Write from experience, not from research.
If you have not taught it, do not review it. The whole value of this site is that everything on it was done by someone.
- 2
Say the unflattering part.
What did not work, what you wasted money on, what you would not do again. Reviews without criticism are advertising.
- 3
Be specific and concrete.
Ages, times, prices, page counts, actual sentences your child said. Vague encouragement helps nobody.
- 4
No affiliate links, ever.
We do not use them and we do not publish them. If you recommend something, it is because it worked.
- 5
Write for a tired parent at 9pm.
Short paragraphs, plain words, the useful thing near the top.
Send us a paragraph
Not a polished draft. One paragraph on what happened, one on what you learned, one on who would find it useful. We reply to every pitch, including the ones we cannot use.
