Your first 30 days, hour by hour
A realistic, gentle 30-day plan for new homeschooling families — built around rest, rhythm, and one good habit at a time.
Don’t try to launch a perfect homeschool on day one. The first month is for deschooling — letting everyone exhale, finding a rhythm, and noticing what your kids actually want to learn when they’re not being graded.
Week 1 — Rest
No formal lessons. Walks, library, cooking together, board games. Watch what your kids gravitate toward.
Week 2 — Rhythm
Introduce a gentle morning block: 30 minutes reading aloud, 20 minutes of one subject, 10 minutes outside. That’s it.
Week 3 — Add one subject
Pick the subject your child is most curious about (not the one you feel most anxious about). Add 30 focused minutes a day.
Week 4 — Reflect
What worked? What didn’t? Now you can buy curriculum — and you’ll buy the right thing, because you actually know what you need.
